**CPHS Pet Calendars on Sale**

Local pet owners are lining up to buy the new “Picture Perfect Pet”
2008 calendar on sale (beginning Monday, October 1^st ) to benefit animals at
the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society shelter.

The full color, glossy print calendars feature local pets who
competed for the honor of being pictured as a month, on a special “honorable
mention” page. All contestants are shown on the front or back cover.

Pet owners this year raised over $14,000 in the contest. Additional
funds will be raised through the sale of the calendars.

The calendars sell for $7.00 each ($5.00 to CPHS card-carrying members) and are
carried by some local retailers, Veterinary offices and the CPHS shelter &
Thrift Shop. Among those signed up to carry the calendars are Hourglass Photo
(Logan Town Centre), Chris’ Hallmark, Brew Zoo (both in the Pleasant Valley
Shopping Center), Thompson Pharmacy (Chestnut Ave.), V.I.P. Pets, Tyrone
Veterinary Associates, Tyrone Daily Herald, New Look Uniform, Ambience
Photography, Ray Kauffman Photography, Quality Awards, Beaks, Paws & Claws
(Hollidaysburg), Veterinary Hospital of Altoona, Tyrone Veterinary Associates
and more to be announced later.

The shelter accepts cash, check, money orders or credit cards as do
most of the merchants selling the calendars.

“We want to thank everyone who took part in this project. All the
pet owners, our advertisers, our printer (Press Box) and especially our
photographers who did such an incredible job” says Dave Hopkins, CPHS Director
of Fundraising/Public Relations.

The calendar contest is the shelter’s largest single yearly fundraiser.
