CPHS Golf Outing Celebrates Decade Anniversary

Golfers from around the region are being invited to take part in a milestone tournament on Wednesday, September 5th at Scotch Valley Country Club to benefit homeless animals at the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.

Shelter officials are marking the 10th anniversary of the tournament this year.

"We are particulary grateful to Dan Lawruk who established this great fundraiser a decade ago and has stuck with it, constantly improving it and making it fun as well as challenging," says Dave Hopkins, CPHS Director of Fundraising/Public Relations.

"We also thank the many familiar golfers who have come out year after year to support us and test their skills on the links."

Again this year, a skillful (or lucky) golfer may be taking home a brand new car if they're able to score a hole-in-one during play. And..golfers will be "rubbing elbows" with some local celebrities at the same time.

"Once again we've assembled a 'Media All-Star' team to compete," says Hopkins. "The foursome will feature WTAJ-TV Chief Meteorologist Joe Murgo, WJAC-TV Anchorman Marty Radovanic, WBXQ radio ("Q-94") DJ and program director, Adam Erickson and Altoona Curve General Manager, Todd Parnell.

Tournament organizer Dan Lawruk says fees for the event include golf and a cart, refreshments on the course, lunch, an awards banquet with hors d'oeuvres, locker room facilities, a long drive prize, closest to the pin prize and a putting contest. In addition, the event will offer many door prizes.

Major sponsors of the benefit outing include M & T Bank, Pepsi, Subway and

S & T Bank with dozens other area businesses contributing.

The cost is $440 entry fees for a 4-person team. Individuals can sign up for $110. Tee sponsorships are $100 and greens can be sponsored for just $75 and are still available to local businesses and individuals. For $25, non-participants can attend the awards ceremonies with hors'doeuvres
