Local pet owners are lining up
to buy the new “Picture Perfect Pet” 2006 calendar now
on sale to benefit the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
The full color, glossy print calendars feature over 90 local pets
who competed for the honor of being pictured as a month, on a special
“honorable mention” page or on the front/back cover.
“It’s our first effort and we’re very proud
of the product,” says CPHS Executive Director Dave Hopkins
who spearheaded the project. “Both our pet owners and advertisers
have earned a little bit of history with us by taking part in this
fundraiser which has already earned us more than $15,000. We expect
the sale of the calendar will push the overall income to over $20,000”
Hopkins added.
The calendars sell for $7.00 each ($5.00 to CPHS card-carrying
members) and be carried by some local retailers, Veterinary offices
and the CPHS shelter & Thrift Shop. Among those signed up to
carry the calendars are Chris’ Hallmark, Thompson Pharmacy
(Chestnut Ave.), V.I.P. Pets & Aquarium, Tyrone Veterinary Associates,
New Look Uniform, Ambience Photography, Moments Photography, Veterinary
Hospital of Altoona, Rustic Furniture (Lakemont) and more to be
announced later.
“We expect to sell them well into the new year” says
Hopkins. “But initial supplies are limited. We’ve ordered
1500 and hope to sell even more.”
The shelter will take special reserve orders only on quantities
of 10 or more calendars according to Hopkins. Those who would like
to place orders can call 942-2477 during normal weekday working
hours. The shelter accepts cash, check, money orders or credit cards.
“We want to thank everyone who took part in this project,”
says Hopkins. “All the pet owners, our advertisers, our printer
(Press Box) and especially our photographers who did such an incredible
job. We’re already looking forward to next year when we hope
to attract even more contestants.” |
