"Message from the President"
by Paul Davis
I am honored to have started my term as President of the CPHS Board of Directors. I am grateful to be a part of a team of employees, volunteers, and Board Members who have worked so hard to enhance the quality of life for the furry and feathered friends in our care, while they wait for their new forever homes. We look forward to future opportunities to improve our service to our customers; our employees; and, most of all, our animal friends in need.
We cannot thank the community enough for their on-going support of CPHS. Support comes in so many forms: a dollar bill dropped in a donation box, a bag of kitty litter, a ‘gently worn’ blanket for a scared puppy to snuggle against, a volunteer assisting a customer or cleaning a soiled cage, a participant at a CPHS fundraiser, a donation of items for resale at our Thrift Shop, a monetary donation…too many to mention. We truly appreciate this token of generosity, as it means so much for our animal friends. If only they could talk!
We would like to especially like to thank those of you who have taken the responsibility of giving a forever home to a furry or feathered friend from CPHS. A home is certainly a wonderful place with the pitter-patter of little (or big) paws.
Please visit us soon, and often. We welcome you!
Paul Davis, CPHS President of the Board of Directors

The Humane Society Thrift Shop
Shoppers at the CPHS Thrift Shop (220 E. Walton Ave. at intersection of Kettle St.)
will find great bargains in a clean, well-lit large store. Our convenient location (with excellent, safe parking) features carefully selected furniture items and increased lines of store "close out" merchandise, children's and women's wear, men's clothing, hardware, housewares, electronics as well as toys and games all at extremely low prices. The shop is open from 11am until 4pm Tues through Sat. The thrift shop is closed Sunday and Monday.
The store runs special sales often and occasionally offers special
coupon discounts for shoppers.
Donations are accepted only during times the shop is open. Due
to the large volume of items, the store is unable to accept leftover
yard/garage sale merchandise. We also cannot accept computer equipment
or some related electronic items. The store accepts clean "in
style" clothing, toys, infant and children's wear, household
items (in good condition), knick-knacks, games and furniture (please
call to arrange for any furniture donations).
The Thrift Shop is staffed by one part-time Manager and over a
dozen volunteers who give their time to sort, price, inventory,
stock and handle clerk duties. Volunteers are always welcome and
needed. Experience is not necessary, just a "good attitude"
and the ability to work well with others. Those who are able to
volunteer at least four hours per week are eligible for major discounts
on regular priced store merchandise.
For more information, call the store at: 944-3072.

Cage/Kennel Sponsorship:
Last May, the Humane Society launched our Cage/Kennel Sponsor program
and it has been quite successful during the first year, with many
animal lovers visibly showing their support of the Humane Society
and what all we do to care for the homeless animals.
If
you have visited the shelter during the past year, you may have
seen plaques hanging from almost every cage and kennel. These
plaques have been engraved as each supporter requested to honor
or memorialize a person or pet. Once the plaques are hung
on a cage, we inform the sponsor and invite them to visit the shelter
and view their plaque. Each plaque is on display for one year
unless it is renewed and will then remain on display.
We?ve been fortunate to have the support of both individuals and
businesses for these sponsorships. Please consider making
your support visible to all who visit the shelter. We look
forward to hanging a plaque on every cage and kennel and hope to
see yours there!
